Growing Living Soil. Growing Community.
Healthy soil is the foundation of healthy food, thriving landscapes, and resilient communities. By supporting living soil with compost, cover crops, thoughtful planting and fewer harmful inputs we help restore the natural systems that nourish our gardens and communities. This work also brings people together neighbors, growers, families, and local organizations can share knowledge, resources, and harvests. When we care for the soil beneath our feet we create stronger connections above it and build a healthier future for everyone.
Developing Living Soil
Party Thyme Gardens is a place where nature, knowledge, and stewardship come together. Rooted in the belief that healthy soil is the foundation of healthy food, strong communities, and a thriving earth. Party Thyme Gardens is dedicated to teaching regenerative gardening practices that restore life to the soil starting right here in the Upstate of South Carolina.
We focus on living soil systems, using time-tested and science-backed methods such as composting, permaculture, vermiculture, rainwater harvesting, and soil microbiology. Rather than fighting the land, we work with it building rich, fertile soil on top of red clay through natural layering, organic recycling, and biological diversity.
At Party Thyme Gardens, we believe soil is alive. Beneath every garden lies a hidden world of beneficial bacteria, fungal networks, worms, and microorganisms working together to feed plants, retain water, and regenerate the earth. Our mission is to help people understand and nurture this unseen ecosystem, turning everyday waste into nourishment and every yard into a living classroom.
Through community workshops, garden club talks, church and school programs, hands-on demonstrations, and educational masterclasses, Party Thyme Gardens empowers individuals and families to grow sustainably, steward responsibly, and reconnect with the natural cycles of the earth.
This is more than gardening.
It’s education.
It’s regeneration.
It’s growing soil—and growing community—together.
Bioreactor Composting System
At Party Thyme Gardens we sell a very well designed static composting bioreactor. This system is a passive, no-turn composting system developed to create rich, fungally-dominated compost for improving poor soils, using a cage of wire mesh (often pallet-based) to aerate materials like leaves and wood chips, requiring minimal water and labor while producing nutrient-dense, low-odor compost in about a year, perfect for regenerative gardening. The bioreactor composting uses small-space organic recycling, focusing on balancing "greens" (food scraps) and "browns" (carbon materials like leaves/cardboard) with air (holes) and moisture in a contained environment, often with worms (vermicomposting) or simply by layering creating nutrient-rich soil amendment used indoors or outdoors.

Vermiculture and Worm Castings Compost
🌱 Why We Believe in Vermiculture at Party Thyme Gardens
At Party Thyme Gardens, we don’t just sell worm compost we raise our own Red Wigglers and Earthworms and farm our own worm castings compost. 🪱
Vermiculture uses composting worms—especially Red Wigglers—to transform organic materials into rich, biologically active worm castings. We also recognize the important role earthworms play in healthy soil, helping move organic matter, create channels through the soil, and support a thriving underground ecosystem.
Worm castings add organic matter and beneficial microorganisms while helping improve soil structure, moisture retention, aeration, and nutrient availability for plants. This makes them particularly useful here in the Upstate of South Carolina, where many of our yards and gardens sit on dense red clay.
What makes Party Thyme Gardens special is that we raise the worms, farm the compost, and use what we produce. We believe in knowing where our products come from and practicing the same principles we teach: vermiculture, composting, permaculture, recycling, rainwater conservation, microbiology, fungal life, and living-soil development.
From vegetables and flowers to herbs, houseplants, trees, lawns, and garden beds, our goal is simple: feed the soil so the soil can feed the plants.
